Overview:
For investors seeking return, pockets of opportunity are opening up all the time across emerging and frontier markets.

However, now more than ever, investments have to be subject to careful analysis of business fundamentals, governance and
the wider political environment.

Dr Mobius remarked on Dubai as a great success story for the rest of the world, having built itself into a centre for tourism, international trade and investments.

Brexit, he felt, could offer an opportunity for Dubai to, in part, replace London as an access point for emerging markets, building on its location as a gateway to the wider Middle East, Africa and Asia.

China, and Russia and India were highlighted as markets still rich with potential, especially given their demographics.

Vietnam was singled out as holding great investment prospects in the coming years, as it continues moving towards a market led economy which is strongly supported and advised by multi-lateral institutions such as the World Bank and Asian Development Bank.

Dr Mobius urged caution however, around how quickly political will can change in some countries, and the need for investors to be ready to exit quickly.

Immigrants can ensure the future of Europe, according to Dr Mobius. As the demographics decline, countries of the West must accept the need to welcome a new segment of younger, hard working people from Africa, Asia, Latin America and beyond.
