In this video I’ll explain you that RBI is stopping printing of Physical Rupee & Providing E-RUPI or CBDC – Central Bank Digital Currency, Digital Rupee to Indian users.
Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) pilot launched by RBI in retail segment has components based on blockchain technology. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued a concept note on Central Bank Digital RUPEE (CBDC) on October 7, 2022. The Digital Rupee or eINR or E-Rupee is a tokenized digital version of the Indian Rupee, to be issued by the Reserve Bank of India as a central bank digital currency. The Digital Rupee was proposed in January 2017 and will be launched in the 2022-23 financial.
e-Rupee is legal tender, not a payment medium. For digital rupee users, SBI has allowed Rs 1 lakh holding limit for the wallet. Users can load or unload up to Rs 25,000 per day, as per the website.
