How do you get paid to play a blockchain game? Well, there are essentially two key mechanisms:
► Earning in-game crypto through gameplay
► Earning or buying in-game NFT items and selling them in a marketplace for a higher price

This is a fantasy football game where you collect NFT player cards and use them to compete in fantasy football tournaments for rare cards and ETH prizes.
Sure, that could sound odd. However, Sorare has just closed a $680 million Series B round in Sorare, which valued the company at a whopping $4.3 billion.
But it is not just VCs investing in Sorare. It turns out that several key players in the game have invested too. This includes the likes of Antoine Griezman, Rio Ferdinand, Ceasar Azpilicueta and Gerard Pique.
So, how do you play? Well you pick a team of five players, enter them into a league and earn points based on the players performance in real-life football games. The teams with the most points win prizes like rare cards and ETH.
These rare cards are tradable and some can be sold for over $100k in ETH – so yeah, it can really pay to play this game.
🏛️ TownStar 🏛️
This game is created by Gala Games. Interestingly, that company was actually founded by the co-founder of Zynga – the guys behind Farmville. It also turns out that TownStar is essentially a crypto version of Farmville.
But what is the aim of the game? Well, you create resources and sell them to other towns. Those sales generate money, which can be used to upgrade your town and make it more productive. It’s essentially a game that replicates capitalism.
But how do you earn in this game? You can earn NFTs which earn you Town Tokens based on the NFT’s rarity. You can then sell those tokens and earn more in-game assets by competing in weekly competitions to be one of the top settlements to win prizes.
⚔️ CryptoBlades ⚔️
This is a dungeons and dragons inspired game. Here you can earn Skill tokens by taking out those enemies, going on a raiding party with friends and staking your gains. Yes, you can also get special weapons to give you the edge in combat.
Those special items can be crafted as NFTs and used in-game or traded on the CryptoBlades marketplace. Your character is also an NFT too.
Take out those enemies and you’ll earn Skill tokens. But be warned; you’ll need some of these tokens to play and it’s an on-chain game – which isn’t for everyone.
🏖️ The Sandbox 🏖️
This game is a massive metaverse where players create virtual worlds and monetize their gaming experiences. In a way it is a bit like minecraft.
The game has quite the range of universes to choose from and that includes the likes of Summer Jam Land, Walking Dead Land and even Snoop Dogg Land!
Within the game you can buy plots of land, which act as pieces of digital real estate. If you built a cool experience on your land, you can even charge other players SAND tokens to visit your land and enjoy those experiences you have built. Lands are also tradable.
💀 Plant Vs Undead 💀
This is essentially a blockchain version of Plants versus Zombies – a tower defence game where you need to stop those nasty undead.
The game has an in-game token called PVU which you use to get items like seeds and plants from the marketplace. Plants will also be tradable NFTs – a bit like Axie Infinity.
